OUR STORY

It started with Dr. Vogler's Spinal Tonic, way back in 1932. Our Great Founder began selling his tonic door to door among the farmlands outside Pittsburgh. This miracle elixir helped children walk and back pain melt away.

He soon opened his own storefront in the Strip District called Vogler's Vittles. During the dark days of the Great Depression, the store expanded from selling tonic and medical supplies to offering groceries and even diapers to families out of money. Dr. Hezekiah Vogler dreamed of creating a company that served the poorest of the poor and ushered in a Utopia where everyone was equal and no one went without medical treatment or food.

He passed this ethos down to his son, Elijah, who expanded Vogler's Vittles into a fleet of stores across the Northeast, becoming a staple in working class neighborhoods in almost every major city.

Hezekiah's grandson, Dennis, took over the business in 1975 and ushered in a new vision for the company. Vogler's Vittles would return to its spinal roots and rebrand as CIAO in 1983. Vogler the younger blazed a new trail through the creation of CIAO's trademark treatment, NEURONIC TRANSUBSTANTIATION™.

At the dawn of the 1990s, CIAO stands at the forefront of spinal health and seeks to heal the world through NT™.

THE VOGLER LINE

Dr. Hezekiah Vogler — 1932. One tonic, one wagon, one promise: no family turned away.

Elijah Vogler — 1948–1975. One storefront became many. The promise scaled. Something else did too.

Dennis Vogler — 1975–present. Took the family business apart and found the spine underneath it the whole time.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER

Dr. D. Vogler, D.C.

I did not begin my career in chiropractic medicine. In my twenties, I believed the future belonged to the wires — that if we could only connect enough people, freely and without a gatekeeper standing between them, we might build something the old powers could never touch.

I still believe that. I have simply come to understand where the real network was all along.

Long before ARPANET, before the telephone, before the first signal ever traveled between two distant points, the human body was already doing it — thirty-three nodes, stacked and humming, carrying every signal that makes you you, all the way from the base of your skull to the base of your spine. No corporation owns it. No government can tap it. It cannot be deregulated, because it was never regulated to begin with.

We spent a decade trying to build freedom out of copper and code. I have spent the decade since learning that we were carrying it with us the entire time.

Welcome to CIAO. Welcome home.
